Privacy Policy
What information do we collect?
No information is collected by Cayuga Trails Club (CTC) when you visit the website.
We only collect information from you when you apply for or renew membership, register for hikes or other events, make a donation, or order products from CTC. To join CTC, we ask for your name, email address, home address and phone number, and ask you to indicate your interests in various club activities and service (optional). If you pay membership dues, purchase items, or donate online, your transaction will be completed by the internet payments company Stripe. Information provided to and stored by Stripe is governed by their privacy policies, which we encourage you to read at their Privacy Center. The Cayuga Trails Club does not have access to the credit card information you provide to Stripe.
When applying for or renewing membership, members may opt-out of having their information including in the CTC Member Directory.
What do we use your information for?
- Membership – information provided by members is used for:
- Communicating through mail and email about CTC activities, including a quarterly CTC Newsletter, Annual Meeting announcements, and weekly emails regarding upcoming hikes, trail work parties, other events, and information important to furthering the mission of the CTC. Any time you would like to stop receiving emails from the CTC, you may use the “unsubscribe” option provided at the bottom of each email.
- Determining interests of individual members in participating in different types of club activities and/or club service, and contacting members about particular club activities.
- Creating an annual CTC Member Directory, which is distributed as a PDF to members only, and is not available on the website. The Directory does not include any information about members who opted-out of being listed. It is CTC policy, stated on the Member Directory, that the Directory is for the personal use of CTC members only – any commercial or other use is prohibited. However, the CTC cannot control or take responsibility for violations of that policy.
- Processing transactions: We use the information requested for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product. For online payments, this includes using the internet payment service, Stripe. You can learn how Stripe uses your information by visiting their Privacy Center.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information.
We may release your information when we believe release is required to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety.
The CTC website includes links to other websites that we do not control. If you visit a website that is linked to our website, you should consult that privacy policy before providing any personal information.
Posting Names and Photographs on the Website or Social Media
Leaders and participants of CTC events (hikes, trail work, meetings, etc.) take photographs that are posted on the CTC website and/or social media. Additionally, descriptions of events may include the names of participants. If you do not want your name and/or photograph posted on the website or social media, you should inform the event leader/organizer and individual photographers. If your name or photograph is included in a website or social media posting, and you wish to have it removed, please inform the relevant site administrator and send a message to: info@cayugatrails.org.

Changes to our privacy policy
If we change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page. This privacy policy was enacted on August 4, 2020 and updated for our new website and payment vendor on Feb 12, 2024.
