Hike Details:
Start & finish at the main parking lot for Watkins Glen. There will be a short car shuttle up hill to the start of our downhill hike on the FLT back to the town parking area.
The hike is largely downhill and will frequently skirt the chasm. Roaring water is to be expected and we hope for a lovely spring day to complete our 3.5-4 mile hike.
Some areas are known to be moist, so sturdy, waterproof boots are recommended as well as poles. Along the way there are some short sidetracks to observe the landscape including waterfalls. We should be ahead of tourist season so crowds are unlikely.
Towards the end we can observe deeper chasms and the natural clamor of water rushing over and between ancient rock formations.
