Hike Details:
The hike starts and ends at the FLT Van Lone trailhead on Gulf Road. We hike about 6 miles, gaining about 1000ft in elevation. The loop includes part of the main white-blazed Finger Lakes Trail and the orange-blazed Van Lone Hill trail in Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area. The primary natural features of this hike include the beautiful, narrow Cayuta Outlet, which could be running with fast water, a nice view of an unnamed creek and a small stand of old growth trees of various species, some up to 150 years old.
The hike is rated Strenuous due to the 1000 ft elevation gain and length of the hike.
Bring plenty of water and wear sturdy, waterproof boots.
