Hike Details:

This easy to moderate five-mile hike starts at the parking lot for the South Hill Rec Trail at the end of Juniper Drive in Ithaca. There is no elevation change on this hike.

We start on established rec trail to its current termination point at Burns Road. At that point, the adventure begins as we continue on the railroad right-of-way for another 1.5 miles on what will eventually be the Caroline Valley Rail Trail.

Brushing out and chainsaw work has already begun on this new section, but the trail tread at this point resembles an unmaintained section of the FLT, rather than an established rec trail. There is no paving or stone dust, blazing or signage. Once we reach a deep ravine, we’ve reached our destination and will hike back to the cars.

If you register, a note from the hike leader will be sent to your email address the night before the hike with a weather update and any last-minute considerations. Cancellation is unlikely but watch this space the morning of the hike just in case.

If you have any questions, email the hike leader at the address above.
