Hike Description
When Six Mile Creek was dammed in 1903 to supply Ithaca with drinking water, the city began buying adjacent property, and began creating the Six Mile Creek Natural Area. In 1910, another dam, twice as big, was built farther upstream and the purchase of property by the city continued. Today the woods between Coddington Road and the creek are rich with mature trees and many trails. This hike will explore some marked and unmarked trails starting near the reservoir behind the 30′ dam (Second Dam). Meet at the South Hill Recreation Way entrance at the end of Juniper Drive.
Wear layered clothing appropriate to the weather and bring water and a snack.
Email the hike leader if you have any questions.
