Hike Description

This hike will explore some of the marked and unmarked trails of the City of Ithaca Six Mile Creek Natural Area.  We will meet at the end of Juniper Drive and cross the South Hill Rec Way to enter the woods.  The hike will follow Six Mile Creek upstream from the lower reservoir (30´ or Second Dam) towards the upper reservoir and return to the Rec Way to skirt some of the many feeder streams and one piece of private property.

Much of this area has been protected since the lower reservoir was created in 1903.  Many large trees of various species will be observed.  We will return to Juniper Drive after about 2 hours.

We’ll meet at the end of Juniper Drive, Ithaca. Street parking is available.

Wear waterproof hiking boots, layered clothing, carry water and a snack.  Hiking poles are recommended.
