Hike Details:
Start & finish at the FLT crossing of Shindagin Hollow Road (also called Prospect Valley Road). Â We begin by crossing a bridge over Shindagin Creek (ask about the history!). Â Then we follow the FLT parallel to the creek, past the Shindagin leanto, to South Rd where we will turn around and return to the start, an out-and-back hike.
Additional information about this hike: The Shindagin Creek bridge that allows FLT hikers to cross the creek has been washed out, repaired, and renovated several times in the last 25 years. A major rainstorm washed it (and Shindagin Hollow Road) out again in 2025 and the result was a relocation and renovation downstream that required some engineering. That feat was performed by a volunteer crew led by David Priester for CTC. We thought we had a pretty solid pier for the relocated bridge, and it is massive. But the power of Mother Nature was demonstrated again last summer. We’ll take a look at our bridge along with other features of this very nice section of the FLT that features easy hiking.
