Hike Details:

Join Neil Belcher and Jewel Burr on today’s adventure in hiking and kayaking, which brings us to Long Point State Park. We’ll meet at the parking lot adjacent to Lake Road. We start our hike headed east on the Spring Run Ravine Trail that follows a deep gorge. We then head north on the North Woods Trail until we meet the Pheasant Run trail that loops south. The Whitetail Crossing Trail and the Hidden Forest Trail bring us back to the trailhead. This is a loop hike of 3.2 miles rated easy.

Bring a picnic and a Kayak for a paddle after the hike and enjoy Cayuga Lake.

Located on the east shore of Cayuga Lake just south of Aurora NY, in Finger Lakes Wine country, Long Point State Park provides a 4-lane boat launch, a modern playground, picnic areas, fishing access, lake access, 4.5 miles of hiking trails, and spectacular sunsets over Cayuga Lake. The easy access to the Cayuga Lake shore makes it popular for paddle-sports enthusiasts and fishermen alike. With a variety of habitats within the 296-acre park, including lake shore, grasslands, brush land, spruce plantations, intermittent creek ravine, and mature forests, Long Point is home to a variety of trees, flowering plants, birds, and wildlife which can be viewed from the hiking trails. In winter, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing are allowed on the hiking trails and unplowed roads.

Bring waterproof hiking boots or shoes, water, and dress for the weather.

This is tick season. Gaiters, long pants and long sleeve shirt recommended. Consider a shower after your hike to identify any tics.

Sunblock and some kind of insect repellent recommended.
