Hike Details:
Start & finish at the Blueberry Patch Campground on Picnic Area Road. This is a 6 mile loop hike rated strenuous. Overall gain in elevation of about 680 feet with some steep pitches.
We will hike the Gorge, Interloken and Burnt Hill Trails in Finger Lakes National Forest.
Wear sturdy hiking boots, bring water and a snack or sandwich as we will stop briefly for lunch. Mud is always a factor in the national forest, depending on weather, so gaiters might be a good idea if you have them.
If you will have trouble finding the trailhead, contact the hike leader at the email address above.
Check this space the morning of the hike for any changes or a cancellation.
The Finger Lakes National Forest is New York’s only national forest. There is a network of trails in the forest and we will traverse parts of three of them: the Interloken, Gorge, and Burnt Hill Trails. The Gorge Trail is of interest as it can be quite pretty if there is water in the creek, and we hike parallel to the gorge and above it for much of the way. We also hike through cow pasture and through more familiar stands of maple, ash, pine and hickory.
