Event/Trailhead location:

Accessing the parking area for this natural area is best approached when heading north on route 13. Therefore, when coming from Ithaca drive past the area and turn onto the Main Street turnoff for Newfield. Make a U-turn then get back onto route 13 heading north into Ithaca. Now pull over onto the side of the road (click for map).

Hike Details:

Start and finish at the small parking lot on SR 13 south of Newfield.

This is 2.5 mile loop hike rated moderate including blue, red and yellow trails. If the group opts for more mileage, we will do the loops twice, making it a 5 mile hike.

There is a steep ascent going downhill and a similar uphill ascent on the way back. Elevation gain approximately 500 feet.

Bring sturdy hiking boots or shoes, water and hiking poles.

This is tick season. Bring insecticide if you use it, wear a long sleeved shirt, long pants, gaitors or tuck pant legs into your socks. Check for ticks after the hike.
