Detailed Hike Description
Come join us in the FLNF for an alternative trail hike.
While many of us have hiked, snowshoed and skied the Interloken and FLT, many times we have crossed other trails. Now we will have a chance to explore some.
This hike is an out and back that incorporates two loops. We start and finish at the Ravine Loop Trail and do half a loop before taking the Ravine Trail to the Interloken. We then take the Interloken north from Picnic Area Rd and take the meandering Potomac Trail to just south of Foster Pond. Foster Pond will be our destination. From the pond we will then take the Interloken back to the Ravine Trail and complete the Ravine Loop Trail.
We will hike 6.1 miles and have just under 600 feet of elevation gain, much of it in the ravine.
If you are using a gps unit, type in 4495 Picnic Area Road, Burdett, NY as your destination.
For those that would like a short hike option, you can hike about 3 miles by starting the hike at the same time but turning around at Picnic Area Rd and returning to complete the Ravine Loop Trail.
Bring water, sturdy waterproof hiking boots and gaitors if you have them. This is shotgun season for deer. It is wise to wear blaze orange during hunting season.
If you are using a gps unit, type in 4495 Picnic Area Road, Burdett, NY as your destination. If you have trouble navigating to the trailhead, contact the hike leader at the address above.
Check this site the morning of the hike for any changes or a cancellation.
