HIKE DESCRIPTION

Whether you’re eating potato latkes, ham, turkey, gumbo, cookies, and/or pies, this time of year we all need some good outdoor exercise!

On this hike, we’ll make 3 loops up and down the steep/high bank of Fall Creek, with our route forming the shape of a pretzel.

We meet at the Flat Rock parking area across the street from the Cornell Botanic Gardens Arboretum, and start our hike by crossing the suspension bridge to the north side of the Fall Creek Valley Natural Area.  Then its up and down, up and down, up and down, getting lots of exercise as we explore the beautiful forests of the creeks flood plain and banks.

It’s winter, so come prepared!  Wear waterproof hiking boots, layered warm clothing, bring traction footwear (Microspikes, Stabilicers, Nanospikes, etc) and/or snowshoes if conditions warrant, and carry water and a snack.  Hiking poles are strongly, strongly recommended.
