HIKE DESCRIPTION
In 2020, during a year of COVID and isolation, David Priester built a
beautiful bridge in the middle of nowhere that is a worthy destination
to have a quick lunch on an out-and-back winter hike. We start at the
southern crossing of the Abbott Loop on Michigan Hollow Road. The first
mile is a 480 foot climb on the Abbott Loop to Hill Road. Another mile
takes us downhill and uphill to the point where the Abbott Loop and the
FLT intersect. We then go east uphill a bit to Curtis Road, then
downhill to David’s Bridge. On the return, the last mile is downhill.

This hike is out-and-back, about 5.5 miles, and has steep uphill and
downhill pitches. The trail will be icy or snowy, and traction devices
are essential and required. If we get heavy snow prior to the hike, consider
snowshoes. Hiking poles are strongly recommended.

Bring water and lunch, and dress in layers for cold weather.
