Hike Details:

Join Gary Mallow for a six-mile hike on a new route for our club. This hike is rated moderate. We will find our way through the tranquil hardwoods and pines of Newfield State Forest.

The trek is led by a Newfield local and features a gradual ascent of approximately 1,000 feet, with gentle slopes interspersed with a few short, steep climbs, culminating in a flat ridge at an elevation of 2,000 feet.

In the absence of marked trails in Newfield State Forest, we will navigate an extensive network of logging roads. Staying together as a group is crucial.

Please bring water, durable hiking footwear, and a packed lunch. We will take a short break to enjoy and recharge in the natural beauty of the area.

Be aware that Newfield State Forest does not have signs, a kiosk, or marked trails. Pay close attention when driving and look for the unmarked gravel parking lot off Irish Hill Road.

For questions, feel free to reach out to the hike leader via email.
