This multi-sport outing will start at the Markham Rd Launch site for Labrador Pond. This area offers three different easy ways to be in nature. The Labrador Pond is a nice place for a relaxing paddle on this kettle pond. The term “unique” is applied to this area because it has been produced by the remnants of a giant ball of ice that was left when the glaciers retreated. It supports a bog environment and bog plants found largely only in NY in the Adirondaks. After paddling the 1.6 mile shoreline lake, we will drive to the east side of the lake and hike a quarter mile to see Tinker Falls (and for the brave and agile-climb up the steep steps to sit in the cave behind the falls to see them from a different angle). Thereafter we will go by car to the boardwalk at the north end of the lake, which is a half mile long wheelchair-friendly walkway through the wetland complex and get a glimpse of flora and fauna that inhabit New York’s freshwater wetlands.
