Today's hike will begin at the South Spring Pool Trail Head. We will walk past the shallow South Spring Pool, where we might observe a variety of ducks, shorebirds, herons, frogs and turtles. Migrating songbirds as well as woodpeckers and hawks may be heard or spotted as we connect with the three trails that make up the Esker Brook Trail system, winding through woods and along ponds and brooks.  Please wear sturdy, weather-appropriate shoes and bring binoculars if available.
We plan to visit the Montezuma Visitors Center and the Wildlife Drive. The Montezuma Wildlife Visitors Center is 4 miles east of the Rt 89 intersection, at  3395 US Routes 5&20. It is open dawn to dusk and features a 3.5 mile Wildlife Drive, among other activities.  Montezuma Wildlife Refuge is designated as an  Audubon Important Bird Area and a Flagship project of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act as part of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex.
Hikers may also opt to join the hike leaders for a meal at Wolffy's Grill and Marina, located 2943 Lower Lake Rd, Seneca Falls, NY 13148
