Learn the basics of how to use a compass and map, including how to measure distance by counting your steps, read basic features on a map, use declination, and take a compass bearing. We’ll hike a short portion of the Cayuga Trail that includes a hill, so wear trail footwear, dress appropriately to be outside during possibly inclement weather, and bring your own snacks and water. Compasses to borrow for this event will be checked out to share; bring your own if you have one. Maps and measuring tape will be provided. No dogs please.
